About
Glen Scotia was founded in 1832 by James Stewart and John Galbraith in Campbeltown, once the whisky capital of the world. This 15-year-old single malt offers a rare glimpse into a distillery that punches well above its profile, delivering genuine character and complexity that rivals far better-known names. Matured in a combination of first fill and refill American oak casks, with ex-sherry cask influence, the whisky develops a deep bronze-gold hue and a notably oily, viscous mouthfeel. Glen Scotia's slow fermentation contributes to the layered character that unfolds in the glass—a signature of the house that rewards patient nosing and sipping. The nose leads with toffee, vanilla, and oak, layered with gingerbread spice and golden syrup cake. The palate is thick and creamy, balancing sweet caramel and honey against candied ginger and brown sugar, with an almost coffee-like warmth underneath. The finish brings Campbeltown's funky, coastal signature to the fore—a briny, salty edge mingles with citrus and biscuit notes, underpinned by that characteristic oily texture that lingers long after the glass is empty.
