Compass Box's The Travelling Circus is a limited blended Scotch that marries the smokiness of Talisker and Caol Ila with richer, fruity malts from Speyside and Port Dundas. A successor to the original Circus, now released as a duty-free exclusive, it strikes a refined balance between both worlds. The blend layers peaty island character with sherry influence and bourbon maturation. Wine notes dominate, yet smoke remains surprisingly subtle for a blend containing 24% Caol Ila—emerging most distinctly in the finish. This creates a whisky offering both depth and composure. On the nose, dark fruit, incense smoke and cocoa powder give way to a silky palate of sherry sweetness, dried fruit and warming spice. The finish stretches long, with vanilla, toffee and a lingering aromatic smoke that ties the blend together.
