About
Bunnahabhain's 12-year-old is a distinctive Islay single malt that eschews the region's typical smoky character in favour of refined complexity. Non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, it presents a full-bodied, confident profile with a backbone of malty depth, caramel sweetness, and vanilla warmth. The nose reveals layers of dark fruit—plums, raisins, and figs—alongside walnut, wood sugars, and subtle spice. On the palate, the oily texture carries briny notes that hint at coastal influence, balanced by blackcurrant jam, burnt caramel, and tobacco leaf. Wood-driven bitterness adds sophistication, while hints of triple sec and ground coffee provide aromatic intrigue. The finish is long and warming, with persistent oak and a dry, slightly woody conclusion. A whisky of considerable character and balance.
