2014 Douglas Laing Single Cask Ex-Tequila Cask

Finish: Tequila Cask
New Release

About

This 2014 Bowmore, independently bottled by Douglas Laing, presents an intriguing take on Islay character with an unexpected tequila influence. Bottled at an approachable 48.4% ABV as a single cask release (just 324 bottles), this uncoloured, non-chill-filtered whisky blends classic Bowmore traits with distinctive cask-driven complexity. The ex-tequila cask finish adds an unusual dimension to this young Islay malt's natural profile. The nose reveals a pleasant medley of tropical fruit, fresh lime, and salty sea breeze, complemented by gentle smoke and green pepper notes. On the palate, the tequila influence emerges distinctly with citrus zest, salinity, and spicy smoke creating a lively, refreshing character. The finish is elegant and subtle, with white and red pepper notes fading gradually and gracefully. An enjoyable Bowmore that works well as an evening dram, potentially paired with light fare or simply savoured on its own.
