This is a bold and characterful Islay single malt from Laphroaig, distilled in 2015 and bottled by James Eadie as part of their heritage-inspired collection. Drawing inspiration from W.Y. Crowe's seminal work 'The Distilleries of Great Britain & Ireland' (1922–1929), this 10-year-old delivers an authentic and uncompromising expression of one of Islay's most iconic distilleries. Maturation in refill barrels allows Laphroaig's unmistakable character to shine through unencumbered: intense peat smoke, medicinal notes, and coastal maritime influence without heavy oak influence. Bottled at natural strength (52.3% ABV) and without chill-filtration, this is a pure, spirit-driven Islay dram. The nose reveals immediate peat with iodine, seaweed, and brine, followed by subtle vanilla and honey notes that emerge with time.
