15 Year Old Feis Ile 2025
About
Lagavulin's Fèis Ìle 2025 15 Year Old represents an ambitious departure from the distillery's classic heavily-peated signature. This limited bottling pairs fifteen years of maturation with an unconventional Moscatel cask finish—a sweet Andalusian wine that challenges Lagavulin's dark, maritime character in intriguing ways. At 55.7% ABV, it delivers a full-bodied, complex experience that balances familiar Islay intensity with unexpected sweetness. The nose reveals a compelling interplay: candied stone fruit from the Moscatel finish mingles with burnt herbs, brine, iodine, and clean peat smoke, accented by tobacco leaf and white pepper. The palate is sweet and peppery, with hints of charred oak, soot, and citrus zest developing into ginger and chilli spice. The finish is long and dry, concluding with walnuts, dark chocolate, and assertive peppery notes. While unconventional for Lagavulin, this dram showcases the distillery's willingness to explore new dimensions of flavour.
