Aberdeenshire Single Malt Batch One 12 Year Old
About
Little Brown Dog's Aberdeenshire Single Malt marks a significant milestone for the independent Aberdeenshire bottler, representing its first core expression after eight years of celebrated single-cask releases. This unpeated 12-year-old Highland whisky is distilled at nearby Glen Garioch and matured in a carefully balanced recipe of 60% first-fill bourbon barrels and 40% Oloroso and PX sherry casks. The nose reveals layers of mocha, dark stewed fruits, and apple, complemented by delicate floral notes of lavender. On the palate, it delivers a full, creamy body with earthy heather, blueberries, leather, and honey, while poached pears and raisins weave through a clean barley foundation. The sherry influence is gentle yet present, contributing warmth and complexity without overwhelming the whisky's balanced character. Bottled at natural colour and non-chill filtered at 46% ABV, this is an approachable yet characterful dram—equally suited as an introduction to Little Brown Dog's distinctive style or as a reliable return to a genuinely flavourful Highland single malt.
