About
This rare independently bottled Laphroaig 2005 balances the distillery's unmistakable maritime peat with the depth of two decades of maturation. Finished in a sherry butt, it layers classic iodine, sea spray, and smouldering smoke with richer notes of dried fruit, polished oak, and dark spice. This expression offers a more contemplative take on Islay's bold character, where medicinal intensity meets elegant sweetness. The nose reveals peaty smoke and iodine alongside dried fruit and medicinal freshness. On the palate, a rich, oily texture unfolds with dates and treacle, supported by Laphroaig's signature phenolic smoke and charred wood with black pepper notes. The finish is long and complex, with bonfire ash and brine mingling with cocoa powder and a warming fade. A genuine treat for devoted Laphroaig enthusiasts.
