Ardnamurchan 8 Year Old Claxton's
About
Ardnamurchan stands as one of Scotland's most innovative distilleries, nestled on the ruggedly beautiful peninsula of the west highlands. This 8-year-old single malt, bottled by independent bottler Claxton's at full strength (57.6%) without colouring or chill filtration, proves that purity and quality go hand in hand. Limited to just 250 bottles from a single bourbon barrel, this is whisky stripped to its essence. The nose reveals campfire smoke, rubber, honey and maritime notes, underpinned by chalk and grass. On the palate, smoke and black pepper dominate, joined by tart green apples, vanilla, cake and liquorice – all balanced by a pleasant salty character. The finish lingers long with pepper, liquorice, salt and smoke, delivering a very satisfying and complex experience. This whisky's full character makes it ideal as a digestif or for contemplation after a meal. The intensity demands respect and time.
