Victoriana
About
Glen Scotia stands as one of the last remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, a historic region that once flourished with dozens of producers but now retains only three. The Victoriana exemplifies the recent renaissance of Glen Scotia's single malts, earning considerable praise for its depth and character. This cask strength expression matured primarily in ex-bourbon casks before spending twelve months finishing in deeply charred American oak and first-fill Pedro Ximenez casks, creating a complex and rewarding dram. The nose reveals intense, layered character with malty notes and an inviting saltiness that develops as the whisky warms. On the palate, the high alcohol content (54.2%) delivers surprising softness and creamy texture, with waves of spiced dried fruit, vanilla, and pronounced oak influence. The finish brings gentle smoke alongside peppery spice and hints of sweet caramel, with citrus and leather undertones. This is a beautifully balanced whisky that marries aged complexity with vibrant, punchy character.
