Lagavulin's Distillery Only 2010 is a rare, non-age-statement single malt bottled exclusively for distillery visitors. This whisky's character is dominated by smoky, peaty notes with a remarkable sweet undertone. Matured in refill casks and bottled at a robust 52.5% ABV, it delivers a complex, full-bodied expression that captures Islay's characteristic maritime and medicinal signature. The nose reveals mandarin orange pith, nutmeg, and liquorice, quickly developing into tarry and coal-like aromas. On the palate, a fruit feast unfolds through a curtain of peat smoke, with pronounced brine, butter, and oak, complemented by hints of honey and creamy texture. The finish is long and evolving, with smoke building and merging with underlying sweetness, gradually becoming saltier and more ashy with time.
