About
Kilchoman's 2014 bottling is a robust, characterful Islay single malt that captures the essence of Scotland's most distinctive whisky region. Matured in bourbon casks, this expression delivers a full-bodied, peaty profile with pronounced maritime qualities characteristic of Islay's western coastal terroir. The nose reveals layers of deep, dry smoke and earthy peat, complemented by subtle sherry influence and citrus notes. The palate is remarkably smooth, developing flavours of coffee, apricots, and black pepper while the peat remains elegantly present. The finish is long and balanced, with persistent peat, maritime saltiness, and a peppery drying character that gradually fades, leaving only a gentle warmth. This bottling pairs beautifully with smoked foods or serves as an excellent closing dram after dinner.
