13-year-old
About
Kilchoman's 13-year-old single malt is a bold and characterful expression from Islay's youngest distillery. Bottled at 50% ABV, this release showcases the vibrant, fruity profile that defines modern Kilchoman, layered with the maritime peat smoke characteristic of the island. The whisky was matured in a dynamic combination of bourbon barrels, octaves, and Calvados casks, creating remarkable depth and complexity. The nose is fresh and inviting, leading with bright citrus notes of lemon and pineapple, complemented by white fruit (apple, peach, banana) and confectionery sweetness of almond and honey. On the palate, an initial wave of sweet honey, toffee, and vanilla gives way to bold ashy smoke and herbaceous notes—dried apple granola and caramelized puffed wheat—with underlying menthol. The finish is warming and lingering, with persistent peat smoke, forest notes, and red fruits balanced by delicate bitterness. The alcohol integrates beautifully throughout.
