About
Peallach is a bold, youthful single malt from Tobermory, bottled by The Caskhound in their Peatwave series. This 10-year-vintage but only 2-year-matured expression proves that age statements aren't everything – the whisky is remarkably well-composed despite its youth. At a robust 55.9% ABV, it strikes a compelling balance between sweet fruit and smoky character. The nose and palate reveal a complex interplay: creamy sweetness with vanilla and honey notes are cut through by pronounced smoke, alongside berry, mineral, and red fruit impressions of strawberry and apple. The finish is powerful and lingering, with smoke continuing to assert itself and a pronounced spicy, peppery edge. This is no ordinary young dram, but a refined and well-integrated expression that carries the character of the smokehouse with genuine elegance.
