About
Cley Distillery in Rotterdam crafts this young single malt with artisanal dedication and Dutch tradition. Matured for three years in ex-bourbon barrels (Heaven Hill or Woodford) and finished for 6+ months in toasted virgin oak, this whisky delivers remarkable depth and complexity for its youth. Triple-distilled from locally-grown barley sourced near Rotterdam, it showcases a distinctive character that punches well above its age statement. The nose presents intense oak, dried fruit, vanilla, and creamy butterscotch. The palate reveals spiced notes of clove, nutmeg, and ginger alongside apple crumble and caramel, with a syrupy, creamy mouthfeel. The finish is relatively long and feisty, with lingering caramel, chewing tobacco, and a soft bitterness that lingers pleasantly. An excellent value for a cask strength dram of such quality and character.
