About
Ardmore's 2009 release is a mature, richly smoky Highland single malt that showcases the distillery's signature character with maritime complexity. This 21-year-old expression has developed beautifully in bourbon casks, revealing layers of peaty smoke balanced with refined sweetness and herbal grace. The extended aging has created a whisky of considerable depth and refinement. On the nose, herbal and heathery notes combine with gentle pipe tobacco and dried fruit, complemented by subtle vanilla. The palate delivers rich peaty smoke with a distinctive salty, almost briny quality reminiscent of coastal air. Black pepper and warming spices add vibrancy, with hints of almond providing textural interest. The finish is long and dry, with persistent smoke and oak tannins that speak to careful maturation and the whisky's impressive age.
