Saburomaru is a distinctive Japanese single malt whisky produced by the venerable Wakatsuru Shuzo distillery in Toyama Prefecture. This young 3-year-old expression showcases Saburomaru's signature style: a harmonious blend of peated Scottish malt with unpeated malt from Toyama, creating a robust and characterfully smoky whisky with considerable depth. The nose reveals complex layers of smoke alongside fruity notes of banana and citrus. On the palate, an oily texture unfolds with candied citron, hints of eucalyptus, and ripe banana, interwoven with dried apricots and sweet pineapple accents. The finish remains true to the whisky's smoky character, with lingering peat smoke, woody undertones, and a subtly sweet fade that leaves a lasting impression.
