This 2010 DL bottling from Douglas Laing showcases the distillery's expertise, finished in Tempranillo red wine casks that add complexity and sophistication. The result is an elegant whisky balancing fruity vibrancy with rich, wine-influenced sweetness. The nose reveals fresh citrus notes, creamy vanilla, and cereal notes with subtle burnt oak undertones. On the palate, dark chocolate, apricot jam, and prunes take centre stage, complemented by red currants, strawberries, and bright lemon notes. Spice and licorice emerge from the wine cask finish, while the finish remains wonderfully honeyed and malty, with a pleasant warmth and lingering oak character.
