Staoisha represents Bunnahabhain's heavily peated expression, distilled on the windswept island of Islay. This 2014 release, matured in first-fill Oloroso and finished in a first-fill Sherry butt, delivers an intense and complex single malt at near 59% ABV. The whisky showcases powerful peat and smoke with rich sherry influences woven throughout. On the nose, dark and warm aromas emerge—burnt heather, charcoal, and sweet peat layered with vanilla and baked apple, alongside peppery notes and coastal hints. The palate presents a compelling contrast: sweet tropical fruitiness and caramel balance against savory, smoky elements reminiscent of barbecue, cinnamon, and maritime saltiness. The finish is full-bodied and lingering, with an oily texture and persistent peat character that defines this Islay classic.
