About
The Macduff 2007 SV is a remarkable single malt from Speyside, matured for 16 years in first fill Oloroso sherry butts. This is a whisky that demonstrates craftsmanship and precision, with a full, assertive character at bottling strength (57.1%). The sherry cask maturation has created a deep, complex foundation with rich fruit notes and wood spice. On the nose, this whisky reveals fresh citrus and white grapes, opening to nuanced notes of caramel and soft vanilla. The palate delivers apple cake and pear dessert, complemented by raisins, dates, and hints of coffee. Golden syrup and barley sugar provide sweetness, while leather and polished wood add sophistication. The finish is wonderfully malty and honeyed, lingering with elegant spice. This whisky's balanced character makes it excellent for contemplative sipping after dinner, perhaps paired with dark chocolate or a quality cigar.
