About

This 2009 Speyside single malt, bottled by Murray McDavid, showcases the power of sherry maturation at cask strength. At 58.9% ABV, this 15-year-old expression delivers complex, full-bodied flavours shaped by its oloroso sherry butt maturation. The whisky leans into the dry, tobacco-forward character that defines premium sherry-cask whiskies. The nose opens with cinnamon, orange jelly, and raisins, layered with stewed fruit and walnut from the sherry influence. On the palate, cigar box and ash notes lead, followed by smoked vanilla, canned peach, and warming spice—cloves and nutmeg add depth. The finish is oily and moreish, with persistent oak and mocha that lingers beautifully, making this a rewarding dram for those who appreciate the drier, spice-driven side of sherry-matured whisky.
