About

Deanston 2011 from Torsten Paul Whisky Company is an intriguing Highland single malt shaped by a distinctive cask combination. This 9-year-old whisky was finished in an ex-Islay ex-Oloroso octave, blending Highland elegance with Islay character. Bottled at 52.3% ABV without dilution, it delivers the full expression of the spirit. The nose reveals red berries and citrus notes with hints of nutmeg and subtle floral undertones. On the palate, spice and ginger emerge alongside waxy character and an intriguing IPA-like intensity. The finish is long and dry, featuring beautiful medicinal peat influences, sweet notes, and nutty complexity that resolves into a pleasant dry conclusion. This whisky pairs beautifully with evening tastings alongside roasted nuts or dark chocolate, where its spice and peat character truly shine.
