2007 SMWS 33.140 16y
About
The Ardbeg 2007 SMWS 33.140 is a powerful single malt from one of Islay's most characterful distilleries. Bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society at cask strength (60.7%), this 16-year-old expression captures the authentic essence of Ardbeg's smoky heritage, refined through years of maturation in ex-oloroso sherry casks. The interplay of American and Spanish oak has added sophistication to the distillery's signature peaty character. In the glass, this dram reveals a complex balance between smoke and refinement. The nose combines smoky peat with subtle vanilla and hints of sherry complexity. On the palate, salty peat emerges alongside a spicy kick, grapefruit juice, lemon, and intriguing notes of smoked ham and cocoa. The finish is long and flavourful, with lingering smoke and peat that gradually fade with elegance.
