About
Old Perth 1996 MMcK is a refined blended malt from Scotland's Lowlands, bottled by Morrison and MacKay. This 23-year-old vintage, distilled in 1996, exemplifies the soft and complex character for which Old Perth is renowned. The blend combines the finest sherry-matured malts from various Scottish distilleries into a harmonious whole. On the nose, this whisky reveals a warm and delightful profile. Sticky sweetness opens with toffee and dried fruits (apricot, orange peel), complemented by subtle sherry notes and hints of dry leaves and a whisper of smoke. The palate is big and rounded, full-bodied with deep cake spice infusions and pronounced sherry character coming to the fore. The finish is medium-length and notably spicy, featuring cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper, alongside grassy and herbal notes. Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to fully appreciate its layered complexity, this whisky makes an excellent choice for contemplative evening sipping.
