The Double Single
About
Compass Box was founded in 2000 by John Glaser, an American former marketing director at Johnnie Walker, who imagined Scotch whisky done differently. The Double Single proves that vision: deliberate minimalism. Rather than blending dozens of distilleries, Compass Box combines just two components here—72% Glen Elgin single malt from re-charred ex-bourbon hogsheads and 28% Girvan single grain—to show that simplicity and refinement belong together. This is no bombastic blend. The nose opens sweet and clean: vanilla and honey, with citrus and apple glimmering beneath. On the palate comes the same elegance—fruity and soft, with vanilla and toffee sharpened by pepper and baking spice. The finish is warm and honeyed, without fanfare. The Double Single doesn't demand attention; it earns it. This is whisky for those who love subtlety and have no need for noise.
