About

Bittersweet Symphony is a blended malt from Turntable Spirits, the Glasgow-based house founded by brothers Alasdair and Gordon Stevenson. The name draws from The Verve's iconic track—a deliberate nod to Turntable's core philosophy of pairing whisky with music as natural companions. This blend marries sherry-matured and virgin oak casks in a carefully considered recipe, with the Stevenson brothers committed to full transparency about every component. Four whiskies form the blend: Teaninich Oloroso Butt for dark chocolate depth, North British Virgin Oak Barrel for toffee sweetness, Balmenach PX Puncheon for dried fruit character, and Marypark Blended Malt for citrus lift. The result is a malt-heavy blend (81%) that holds both the refinement of sherry influence and the fresh vitality of virgin oak in careful equilibrium. In the glass, Bittersweet Symphony reveals itself as full-bodied and layered. The nose offers ripe dark fruits, subtle sherry tones, and a hint of cigar leaf. On the palate, the whisky feels round and smooth, with a gentle bitterness that anchors the deep fruity sweetness—dark chocolate, dried fruits, and toffee work in concert without any single note dominating. The finish is clean and lingering, with cocoa and dried-fruit echoes that invite another sip.
