Peat Faerie is a smoky blended malt whisky from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, a 10-year-old expression bottled at 50% ABV that balances peat with subtle sweetness. This is one of the most exciting malt releases the SMWS has offered, combining complexity with approachability. The bourbon hogshead maturation has imparted a smooth, rounded character. On the nose, well-balanced peat emerges alongside maritime notes, vanilla custard, honey, and hints of citrus zest with apple orchard undertones. The palate reveals a creamy texture with wet graphite, cherry jam, and subtle smoked ham, complemented by light peppery spice. The finish is smooth and lingering, with the peat remaining present but never overpowering, making this a sophisticated choice for both peat enthusiasts and those seeking a gentler introduction to smoky whiskies.
