J.J. Corry is an Irish whiskey brand founded in 2015 by Louise McGuane, reviving the historical practice of whiskey bonding in Ireland. This 23-year-old single cask expression was bottled exclusively for Whiskybase and represents the craft of modern bonding. Matured in a Kentucky bourbon cask, it strikes a refined balance between tropical fruit character and grassy complexity. The nose opens with grainy notes, vanilla and scones, followed by fruity stone fruits like peaches and subtle tropical hints of kiwi and green banana, with citrus honey emerging. The palate is even more inviting, revealing pineapple, mango and peaches alongside ripe gooseberries and vanilla cake, with white pepper, mint and a hint of nutmeg adding spice. The finish is quite long, offering nutty notes, a touch of coconut and plums. A well-aged Irish whiskey of considerable character and complexity.
