Bunnahabhain 50 Year Old 1975 Oloroso Sherry Butt Signatory Vintage Coastal Edition
About
This exceptional 50-year-old single malt is likely from Bunnahabhain, one of the few coastal distilleries with sufficient aged stocks from the 1970s. Bottled by Signatory Vintage, it has matured for half a century in an Oloroso sherry butt, resulting in a complex and mature profile. Despite considerable oak influence, the balance remains remarkably well-preserved. The nose reveals beautiful complexity with eucalyptus and pine forest, polished furniture and leather, complemented by mild pecans, marzipan and vanilla. Dried apricots, candied orange and raisins add layers, alongside subtle red berries and a coastal character. On the palate, the wood makes its presence known with mint, candied ginger, herbs and leather, balanced by vanilla and dried fruits. A subtle hoppy note and dark chocolate emerge, with hints of rancio and brine. The finish is medium-length with tobacco leaf, rye spice and light salty notes.
