Murray McDavid's King of Casks is an exceptional and rare blended malt celebrating three decades of maturation and masterful cask craft. This distinguished expression pays homage to the pioneers of the 'Double Wood' technique, where spirit initially rests in ex-bourbon hogsheads before being transferred to compact 64-litre Pedro Ximénez sherry octaves. The final 18 months in these specialist casks add remarkable depth and refined sweetness to the blend. The nose reveals honeyed malt, melon, and candied citrus in an elegantly composed bouquet. The palate delivers lemon cake, peach, and fresh leather with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel that coats beautifully. The finish is delicately floral with notes of sweet grass and mellow spice, fading gracefully and leaving a lasting impression of sophistication.
