Garry Oak Rye Whisky Batch 2 Bottle Strength
About
Stillhead Distillery's Garry Oak Rye Whisky Batch 2 represents an innovative Canadian approach to rye whisky-making. This bottle strength release (50% ABV) blends three carefully selected casks: one aged entirely in refill Garry Oak, and two casks that spent three years in charred new American oak before a two-year transfer to once-used, Oregon-sourced Garry Oak. Native to British Columbia, Garry Oak brings distinctive character and regional identity to this thoughtfully crafted expression. The nose opens with molasses, dark honey, and subtle cocoa notes, complemented by baking spices. The palate reveals rich caramel and toffee, balanced by spicy rye heat and bold oak notes. Clove and dark toast add complexity, while an earthy, savoury edge from the Garry Oak provides structure and depth. The finish is long and warming, with lingering spice and oak tannins that showcase the whisky's maturity and layered cask work.
