About
The Macallan 1987 Carta Nautica is an exceptional single malt whisky celebrating the historic transatlantic journeys of oak casks. Distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2026, this whisky has matured for nearly forty years in carefully selected casks. The maturation began in European oak casks seasoned with sherry from Jerez, Spain, and was completed in ex-bourbon barrels from the United States. This unique combination symbolizes the old maritime traditions that connected the worlds of sherry and Scotch whisky. Only 600 bottles are available of this exclusive release. In terms of flavor profile, the Macallan 1987 Carta Nautica offers a rich nose of creamy vanilla, caramelized peaches, and deep oak, enhanced by tropical pineapple and subtle citrus aromas like pink grapefruit. On the palate, antique oak dominates, complemented by orange oil and berry compote, nectarine, charred pineapple, and hints of leather. The finish is long and warming, featuring wood spice, tropical fruit, and the sweet lingering of sultanas.
