About

Turntable Spirits was founded by Glasgow brothers Gordon and Ally Stevenson, who discovered whisky during lockdown while pursuing a Master's degree in Music and resolved to compose blends like songs. Track 7 'Born to Be Wild' is their debut limited-edition release—a blended malt drawing from five modern Scottish distilleries, each contributing a distinct voice. The name echoes the classic rock anthem, fitting the experimental spirit of the project. The composition is deliberately layered: 37% peated Ardnamurchan matured in sherry butt anchors the blend, joined by first-fill bourbon-aged malts from Lochlea and Nc'Nean, peated Chinkapin-aged spirit from Isle of Raasay, and grain from Port Dundas. Bottled at 53% ABV, non-chill-filtered and in natural colour, the whisky reveals its full character without compromise. On the palate, campfire smoke and sea spray mingle with savoury umami notes—charred bacon, teriyaki, roasted meat—layered over warming spices and honeyed malt. The finish unfolds in stages: cream and stone fruit give way to a drying, smoky fade punctuated by residual peat, before fading into subtle fruit sweetness. A busy, complex dram that demands a moment with water to unlock its layers.
