About
O.H. Ingram Straight Rye traces back to a family legacy that began over 150 years ago with oak trees and a rushing river. Hank Ingram transformed that heritage into something unexpected: rye whiskey aged aboard floating barrelhouses on the Mississippi River. The Ballard location, with its constant temperature swings and movement, accelerates maturation and imparts a character you won't find in stationary warehouses. This straight rye (51% rye, 45% corn, 4% malted barley) spends 4 to 5 years on the water before bottling at 49% ABV. The river-aged approach yields a rye that straddles tradition and innovation—vanilla and oak from the casks, but also a subtle salinity and restlessness that echoes the Mississippi itself. The nose leads with leather and tobacco, grounded by woody oak. The palate opens into citrus and tropical fruit, then settles into almond and caramel—a more buttery, approachable profile than typical ryes. The finish is gentle, caramel and honey fading slowly into oak.
