Flaming Heart 2025 Edition
About
Flaming Heart takes its name from folk musician M. Ward's 2001 song—a choice reflecting Compass Box's rock-and-roll spirit. For their 25th anniversary, they've rewritten the eighth edition around a single idea: maximum complexity with minimum components. The result is a blended malt built entirely from peated whiskies, with a small dose of French oak maturation. The blend brings together Talisker (Skye), Laphroaig (Islay), Benrinnes (Speyside), and a trace of Marsala cask finishing. This emphasis on peat and French oak gives the 2025 edition a distinct character from earlier releases. Rich, oily smoke dominates the nose, backed by zingy spice and hints of raspberry and apricot—ringed by tarry rope impressions. The palate hits hard: clove, pink and black pepper, nutmeg, medicinal peat, and bright fruit. The finish concentrates into smoke that feels both woody and ashy, with menthol and citrus oils.
