About

The Daftmill 2012 Summer Batch Release is a superb single malt whisky from Scotland, crafted by the Daftmill Distillery located in the Lowlands. Known for its small-scale production and the use of estate-grown barley, each bottle exudes a unique artisanal quality. With an ABV of 46%, this whisky offers a balanced and elegant experience, characteristic of Daftmill's style. Tasting this whisky reveals a delightful array of fruity aromas. On the nose, you'll notice hints of lemon drizzle cake, green apple peel, and creamy vanilla. The palate is rich with the flavors of pears, apples, and melons, accented by a touch of papaya. The finish is fruity and lightly sweet, leaving a pleasant aftertaste. This whisky is perfect for enjoying neat, but it also pairs wonderfully with light dishes such as grilled fish or a fresh salad.

N: wax, red fruit, vanilla, caramel, forest honey, hazelnut, almonds, caramelized pineapple, violets, apricots, tinned peach, fig, P: wow! What a whisky. Candy like haribo and fruitella, lemon juice, kiwi, caramelized pineapple, vanilla, honey in forest berry tea, tinned peach, F: a light salty taste at the end that makes me think of salted caramel fudge. A lingering sweetness complements the whisky. Tinned peach, kiwi, and a light taste of white pepper. Time and again amazed by the quality of Daftmill. This is 70cl pure enjoyment! 89

There are so many whiskies and extraordinarily many specific diverse flavors. Often it's still made for a general, skimmed popular general taste. This is such an exception to that rule that I'm crazy about. Daftmill, a partially converted farm that makes its own harvest into whisky during the quiet times of the year. Small-scale, headstrong and full of handcrafted moments and small batches, made with love, that can bring out that specific stubborn flavor and aroma. (See Netflix, the amber light) This is such a whisky. Made with golden honesty. A specific flavor, but after 12 years of maturation extremely subtle and well-balanced. It's subtle, sweet, vanilla, fruit and floral. Everything comes together, malt and wood, distillate and everything with a unique headstrong Daftmill touch. I find it soft, subtly sweet, the fruit reminds me somewhere of those little orange ice lollies on sticks with cream sticking out from underneath. Besides the nectar-like sweetness, something of wood bitterness lurks along, which lingers in the throat after the finish. Nowhere is the flavor exaggerated, but it clearly has character. No sherry involved, no smoke. I experience it as something pure. As far as I'm concerned, a recommendation with a star. But this was also a very good batch, if I'm to believe the comparisons with other batches. (I'll be happy to explore that in due course ;) )
