In 2023, Compass Box celebrated thirty years of friendship and business partnership with Dutch importer Bresser & Timmer. *Amici Ad Vitam* — friends for life — was created for this milestone, blending malts and grains distilled in years significant to both partners' shared history. The blend matured in ex-bourbon and recharred casks, an oloroso-seasoned sherry butt, and custom French oak vessels. Balancing these diverse influences proved a rewarding challenge, yielding a rich, oily whisky brimming with layered flavours. On the palate, honey and tropical fruit emerge alongside a waxy, substantial mouthfeel. Dried spices and gentle smoke build towards a long, evolving finish marked by maturity and restraint—no sharp edges, but a warm, harmonious conclusion. This is a whisky that rewards patience, speaking to three decades of trust and collaboration between maker and importer.
