About
Laphroaig Cairdeas is a powerful and complex single malt from the renowned Islay distillery, matured in first fill casks and bottled at cask strength. The name 'Cairdeas' means 'friendship' in Gaelic, reflecting a warm connection to the distillery's heritage. At 57.3% ABV, this expression delivers an intense, unfiltered flavour profile that makes no compromises. The nose opens with fresh citrus fruit and honeyed sweetness, followed by a briny sea salt character typical of Islay's coastal influence. On the palate, vanilla and caramel initially lead, but are quickly overwhelmed by full-bodied peat smoke with peppery spice and a meaty undertone. The finish is long and lingering, with prominent smoke and burnt notes that persist. The overall profile is both fully present and remarkably subtle, with a creamy mouthfeel that carries the complexity through to the very end.
