Mortlach 20 Years Old is an impressive single malt whisky from the renowned Mortlach Distillery, nestled in the heart of Speyside. Established in 1823, it was the first legal distillery in Dufftown. Using a unique 2.81 distillation process since 1896, Mortlach delivers a powerful and robust taste experience that deviates from the traditionally lighter Speyside style. This distinctive character has earned it the nickname 'The Beast of Dufftown', as coined by whisky writer Dave Broom. This 20-year-old expression is matured solely in sherry casks, contributing to its rich and dark sherry character. The nose is complex, featuring notes of dried fruit, cedarwood, leather, and tobacco. On the palate, it offers flavors of orange peel, vanilla, and a hint of mint oil, with undertones of candied ginger and plums. The finish is elegant and intriguing, with lingering hints of clove and brandy butter.
