About
Ledaig is Tobermory's peated expression, produced on the rugged Isle of Mull in Scotland's Islands region. This 1996 vintage has spent nearly two decades maturing in cask, allowing the intensity of the smoke to mellow and develop into a complex, layered character. The influence of sherry cask maturation adds subtle fruity and nutty dimensions to this distinguished single malt. On the nose, this whisky presents an intriguing interplay of peat smoke and citrus notes. The palate reveals roasted nuts, dark berries, and hints of banana, with the peaty character remaining present yet softened by age. Butterscotch and caramelized notes emerge, balanced by tangy pepper and leathery undertones. The finish is exceptionally long and tarry, with lingering smoke that gradually fades, leaving a memorable impression of complexity and refinement.
