Fuji Sanroku arrived in 1997 as Kirin's whisky statement. The distillery sits in Gotemba at Mount Fuji's base, where cooler, lower-humidity air was deliberately chosen to mirror Scottish conditions. Master Blender Jota Tanaka, named 2017 Icons of Whisky Master Distiller/Blender of the Year, crafted this blend with purpose: a partnership between Gotemba's grain whiskies and peated malt.

The recipe pairs medium and heavy grain spirits with peated malt, all matured in ex-bourbon casks. This composition delivers a full, warm character—not the restrained elegance of many Scotch blends, but rather a direct, flavour-forward experience.
