About
Compass Box started with a provocation: grain whisky deserves the same reverence as single malt. Hedonism, their first creation in 2000, remains their manifesto. This 10th Anniversary edition is an exception to their own rule—not a blended grain, but a single cask from 1971, distilled at Invergordon and aged 38 years. Only 120 bottles were released. That one cask carries decades of patience. It is older than what typically goes into Hedonism, and it shows. Where the regular blends chase pleasure and accessibility, this cask tells a different story: depth, texture, proof that grain whisky can mature with grace. On the nose and palate: vanilla, nougat, hazelnut, coconut, subtle florals. Brown sugar and toffee. Oak that supports rather than dominates. The finish brings grainy edge and wood spice, with a whisper of apple acidity. Elegant, without the rough edges grain sometimes carries.
