About
Japan has firmly established itself as a prominent whisky-producing nation. The Miyagikyo distillery proudly presents the Nikka Coffey Malt, an innovative venture that pushes the traditional boundaries of whisky production. Instead of the usual grain whisky, they distilled a mash of 100% malted barley in their Coffey stills, an old type of column still developed by Aeneas Coffey. The result is a surprisingly rich whisky with remarkable softness and depth. On the nose, this whisky reveals fresh and clean aromas, highlighted by notes of candied lemon peel and rich cake spices. The palate is robust and spicy, with a dense mouthfeel complemented by hints of vanilla, butterscotch, and fruity undertones. The finish is medium in length, offering a pleasant balance of sweetness and spice. This whisky pairs excellently with chocolate or nut-based desserts, enhancing the complex flavors and providing a delightful tasting experience.
