Murray McDavid releases an exceptional 30-year-old blended malt that pays homage to the founding fathers of Double Wood finishing. This rare 'tea-spooned' malt was originally matured in ex-bourbon hogsheads before being transferred to compact 64-litre Pedro Ximénez Sherry octaves for the final 18 months, creating depth and adding sweetness to the blended malt.

Production Details

This Scottish blended malt bottled at 42.2% ABV in 700ml bottles showcases the complexity achieved through thoughtful cask management. The combination of ex-bourbon maturation with Pedro Ximénez sherry finishing represents a technique pioneered by distilleries such as Balvenie in the 1980s. With only 170 bottles produced, this is an exceptionally limited release that will appeal to serious collectors.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, honeyed malt, melon, and candied citrus emerge. The palate reveals lemon cake, peach, and fresh leather, while the finish delivers floral notes, sweet grass, and mellow spice—a refined and balanced conclusion.
