GlenDronach 56 Year Old 1968 Bicentennial

GlenDronach celebrates its bicentennial with a historic release: the oldest whisky ever bottled by the distillery. This exclusive single malt was distilled in September 1968 and is now available as an extremely limited edition of just 200 bottles. The selection was curated by Dr. Rachel Barrie, master blender at GlenDronach, underscoring the significance of this release.

Maturation and Production

The whisky began its maturation in Oloroso sherry casks, where it spent decades before being transferred in 2014 to Pedro Ximénez casks. This secondary maturation added further complexity to the spirit. In 2025, the whisky was released from cask at 56 years of age. It is bottled at its natural cask strength of 44.9% ABV.

Tasting Profile

The nose reveals deep sherry character with dried fruit, vanilla, and caramel. The palate shows additional layers: dried fruit, peppery spice, and sherried notes. The finish is long and warming, with citrus, caramel, and lingering sherry character.

Each bottle is presented in a custom-made black walnut cabinet with a crystal decanter. This is a collector's piece for the most dedicated whisky enthusiasts seeking Highland whisky history.
