Murray McDavid presents an exceptional release: Caperdonich 50 Years Old ULTRA, a rare single malt from 1972 sourced from the legendary Speyside distillery Caperdonich. Bottled at 47.1% ABV, this heritage whisky represents a bygone era of Scottish whisky production and craftsmanship.

This spirit has elegantly matured for five decades in an American oak hogshead, perfectly evolving and enhancing the classic flavours characteristic of this heritage single malt. The mellow nature of American oak has provided the ideal vessel for this extended maturation, creating a complex and characterful dram that has been carefully nurtured over decades.

The nose reveals a beautiful bouquet of fresh peaches and apricot cream, sweet barley sugars and vanilla pods, followed by pineapple cubes, sweet ginger and pine. On the palate, intensely tropical and vibrant aromas unfold, and with time in the glass, the whisky blossoms to reveal sumptuous honeyed cereal and buttery pastry notes. The finish is deliciously fruity and satisfyingly long with a waxy character—a fitting conclusion to this remarkable vintage expression.
