Slow-cooked Whisky Beef Stew

A rich and deeply flavored beef stew with a subtle hint of bourbon. The whisky adds a complex sweetness and depth that perfectly complements the meat.

    Step 1: Cut the beef into cubes and season with salt and pepper.

    Step 2: Heat olive oil in a large pot and sear the meat until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.

    Step 3: In the same pot, add chopped onions and garlic, sautéing until soft.

    Step 4: Deglaze the pot with 100 ml bourbon whisky, preferably Maker's Mark, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom.

    Step 5: Return the beef cubes to the pot, along with chopped carrots, celery, and tomato paste.

    Step 6: Add beef stock, cover the pot, and let it simmer gently for 2 to 3 hours until the meat is tender.

    Step 7: Stir through and serve with fresh bread or mashed potatoes.
