Tobermory

Located on the Isle of Mull in Scotland, Tobermory Distillery has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1798. Originally established by John and William Stevenson, the distillery has changed ownership over the years and is currently owned by Distell International Limited. Despite its storied past, Tobermory has maintained its reputation for quality whisky production while adapting to modern techniques. With an annual production capacity of 1,000,000 liters, Tobermory utilizes traditional pot stills that include two 18,000-liter and two 16,000-liter units, along with four fermenters each holding 23,000 liters. The distillery produces both unpeated Tobermory whisky, characterized by subtle sweetness and fruitiness, and the heavily peated Ledaig whisky, which offers a robust smoky profile. The whiskies are known for their complex flavors, featuring notes of peat smoke, spices, and oak, with a sweet and fruity finish. Visitors to the distillery can explore its offerings, including notable expressions like the Tobermory 10-year-old and Ledaig 10-year-old, while also gaining insight into the production process through tours.
