Springfield
Lowland, Scotland · Opgericht in 1829 - 1831
Springfield distillery, located in the Lowland region of Scotland, was established in 1829 by Matthew Cleland. Despite its short-lived operation, which lasted only until 1831, Springfield played a part in the early Scottish whisky industry. The distillery's brief existence reflects a period of experimentation and development in whisky production during the early 19th century. Although Springfield distillery had a limited production capacity, it was equipped with traditional pot stills, which were common in that era. The character of Springfield whisky, although now lost to history, would have likely exhibited the lighter, floral notes typical of Lowland whiskies, appealing to the palate of the time. Today, Springfield serves as a reminder of the rich tapestry of whisky heritage in Scotland, even if it did not endure as a fully operational distillery for long.
