Port Dundas Distillery, located in the Lowland region of Scotland, was founded in 1811, making it one of the older distilleries in the country. Originally established by a consortium of distillers, it changed ownership several times before being acquired by Diageo. The distillery's operations ceased in 2010, but it has left an indelible mark on the whisky landscape through its contributions to both single grain and blended whiskies. The distillery was known for its substantial production capacity, with state-of-the-art column stills that allowed for the efficient distillation of grain whisky. Port Dundas whiskies are characterized by their sweet and fruity profiles, often exhibiting notes of citrus, caramel, and nuts on the nose, followed by a palate rich in spices and oil. The finish is smooth, with lingering hints of herbs, oak, and malt. Although the distillery is no longer operational, its notable expressions, such as the Port Dundas 2000 Fragrant Drops and various aged releases, remain sought after by whisky enthusiasts and collectors alike.
